I have a Minnkota Riptide 40lb thrust motor that is transom mount but I have it on my bow. this is a 12 volt motor and today for some unknown reason the in-line fuse blew. I don't know what size to buy...the one in there said 40!!!! Can this be right. The only other device on the battery is a fishfinder Garmin 160. Any help here appreciated as I lost the manual that came with the motor. Many thanks, Wally

Wally,

For some reason you had an unexpected demand for power. Motor hit something, weeds, etc.

40 amp sounds right. Replace the fuse with a circuit breaker.

djohns19, thanks for your fast reply....Is a circuit breaker for a boat available in hardware stores or do I need to see a marine dealer???? I know very little about electrical work. Thank you again for the reply. Wally

Wally,

Any boat dealer that handles trolling motors will have circuit breakers. Just replace the in line fuse with the c-breaker. they are usually in line on the positive cable.

I have a 30 on mine and have only blown it when I caught the anchor rope on the prop and stopped it suddenly.
D
