1) I hooked up ignition harness to the key switch wont turn over when I turn key I think the selinoid is bad turned it over by jumping the selinoid
2) only have spark at top cylinder checked the wires seem all tight on the panel. coil Issue? seems strange to have 2 out but maybe not.
any help would be appreciated
thanks

Re: Help trouble shooting no spark @ 2 lower cylinders

From your previous posts, I'm assuming you are having trouble with your '85 or '87 85hp?
If so, here are some things you can check.
The CDI packs have two outputs for the coils. On one CDI unit, one of the outputs is not used. Usually the #1 and #2 coils are controled by one CDI pack and #3 is controled by the other, with one unused output. It's possible that yours is wired up so that #2 and #3 are on the same CDI. If so your problem my be either in the stator or the CDI unit.
The stator has three sets of outputs, one sends A/C to the rectifier (to charge your battery) and the other two go to the CDI packs. If your stator is bad, current will not flow to one of the CDI packs and those cylinders will not fire. Also the white wire from the CDI packs connects to the kill and key switches. If that wire is grounded, the CDI unit will not fire. Check to make sure the insulation has not rubbed through and contacting the block some where.

There are simple resistance checks that you can do to test the stator, trigger,CDI units and coils. I suggest you get a Clymer shop manual.
