HI Luisg, next time in the title box please do not put help or uergent, instead put "6hp johnson water pump replacement" that will help get more people who know about these engines to help you out, instead of them searching for questions!

Ok did you remove the THREE long screws? near the bottom? Does your modle have forward and reverse or nuetral? if it does not, then the impellor is on the prop shaft.. have you tried pulling really hard? I have an owners manual but I need to know the model number. and I don't know if master J.B will let me copie and send you directions?

Good post, Sloopy. What you do by Email is your business.

LuisG.

You need a manual. "Anyone who tries to work on an outboard without a manual has a fool for a mechanic."

Re: HELP-URGENT-HELP 6 HP

I think it would be best for you to buy a manual, you can be the best Mechanic in the world, you can have all the tools, the greatest machine shop etc etc. BUT you are screwed when you try to take apart and outboard without a manual, a lot of special parts go in certain places. and without a manual you don't know what screw does what, or what happens when you take that one bolt off. I can promise you that buying a manual will be the best thing you can do for your outboard.

Re: HELP-URGENT-HELP 6 HP

thanks sloopy.
ok i didnt see the bolt for the shifter rod.
once a saw this i unscrew this and it came right of.
now...i purchased the water pump kit and now that i can see the old one its different from the new one.!
the old one is double the size of the new one.
but funy thing is that the new pump assembly fits right in like a glove, al the holes match and it in cludes a plate that yo put in first so the water intake hole on the lower unit willl be brought inward so it will end up in position with the new smaller impeler.
NOW..this is what i think...
is this a new redisign water pump ?
is it the wroung water pump?..the parts department sed this was it...
and since every hole matches ...?
they didnt told me that was a redisign pump.
what do you all think.

the model number is 6R77M ,JOHNSON 6HP

LUIS
