I have a 2003 evinrude 115 horse and the throttle control assembly has been sticking in the last few weeks and sometimes I would have trouble getting into neutral. Today on the water something "snapped" inside and I couldn't get it to idle any less than 2000 rpm. I limped back to shore. Now when I start it revs to red line even when the throttle handle is vertical.
I detached the assembly from the boat and was able to split the assembly into halves. I could see 3 plastic parts which showed worn corners and a couple with fresh breaks. I thought I could remove those parts and go get new ones but life is never that simple.
I can't get the throttle handle detached from the outside half of control assembly. Does anyone know how to get the throttle handle disconnected from the rest of the control case? I can't even take the entire control box into the marina because the tilt/trim switch wire is still connected through th e throttle handle.
Anyone have the answer, Thanks
