Ok, I finally got around to adding some much needed low end sound to my 2004 Bryant 214. The best place to add the sub is in the side lockers, but locking the sub up in the locker
a) cuts the quality in half
b) I lose about 25% of volume and
c) makes the entire thing rattle (and forget having anything in the glove box or cup holders)

So I removed the foot well insert and WOW, what a difference!!!!

Only bad thing is I'm having difficulty deciding what to do here..

I thought about buying another foot well insert, cutting out the frame (basically turning it into a finishing ring) and lining the hole w/ some kind of fabric, but I called the factory this morning to see how much another foot well insert would cost and he's not sure they can even get these things anymore. :( He's checking the warehouse, but I'm not holding my breath.

The next best thing is to dip into the wealth of knowledge and experience of the ingenious members of this forum. Does anyone have personal experience w/ this scenario (or a similar situation) that you can share. Or we can brainstorm; I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Help w/ ideas...

Bubba, thanks for the suggestion, but I would prefer to keep everything wood-free. I am thinking about getting some wire mesh, covering it in some kind of fabric or black nylon window screen material, screwing the mesh to the back of the hole w/ some stainless steel bolts/washers, then trimming the front ring from the foot well insert and using it to finish off the outside.

The mesh will protect the speaker and the black nylon screen will provide enough obscurity that you won't be able to see into the locker and keep small debris from blowing into it.
