My boat: Chaparral 260 Cruiser 2003 49 hours
Volvo Penta 320hp GXi 5.7

Can anyone provide suggestions on how to winterize my hot and cold fresh water system and A/C which the dealer wants to charge $40.00 each. Trying to save some money since they will do the engine and stern drive for $300.00. I will also try to winterize the marine head which shouldn't be too tough. Thanks for your advise

Re: HELP!! Winterizing Fresh Water System + A/C

I'm sure 15 people will give you 15 variations but here is what I do,
drain freshwater tank
drain hot water tank
remove hot and cold connections from hot water tank and join together (small pipe with 2 male ends on it. I do this so I don't have to fill the hot water tank with antifreeze.
Put pink plumbing antifreeze in fresh water tank and turn on pump, make sure you get pink stuff out of every tap.
For A/C, disconnect water hose from seacock and put into jug of antifreeze (has to be low because pump is not self priming) and turn on A/C, wait for pink stuff to come out through hull.
For the head, after it's pumped out I disconnect the water line from the seacock and put it into a jug of pink stuff and pump it until it's empty, this way the antifreeze goes through the lines, the head and is in the holding tank until next spring.
