I will try to make this simple.
I have a 6 wire ign. switch for a 70hp Merc OB. Colors are: red, black/yellow, purple, black, yellow/red, and yellow/black.

My choices are: ignition circuit, solenoid, choke, battery, magneto, ground.
I know 4 of them from wiring diesel motors. Help for all of them is appreciated. Thanks!

Yellow/Black = choke = "C" terminal on switch
Purple = Accessories (instruments power) = "I" terminal on switch
Black/Yellow = magneto = "M" terminal on switch
Black = ground = "M" terminal on switch
Yellow/Red = Starter Solenoid = "S" terminal on switch
Red = Battery positive 12 volts = "B" terminal on switch

There are two "M" (magneto terminals because the switch connects those two terminals in the OFF position to short the ignition to ground. This is how a magneto system is shut down.

Thanks! I knew I could count on you, Silvertip. The engine is now running,

And to add to that "M" terminal info, those same wires go to the kill switch as well to turn off the engine if you fall overboard...
