Hello every one , am looking for some help.. I got an Evinrude 1986 70 HP that been sitting for couple of years, At first she start, Shift while on the hose &idle great. Out at the dock under a load she runs but as soon you shift in gear she dies immediately.
I use 6Gal fuel tank, am using a new tank & fresh gas , New hose w the prime ball . Carb?s been rebuilt few days, I also checked all my fuel line to make sure there?s no hair line crack or any vacuum leak issues. Again she run great using the garden hose and shift awesome with no load. So i used an empty barrel and sunk the lower unit to test under some load saving my self a trip to the dock ..No luck as soon as i shift she bogs down and die .
Did read a few posts here and checked on my fuel pump and she ok or no sign to make me believe any different ?!, No over heating issue eng feels cool to the touch no SLOW activated buzzer ..!!! Water tail is strong.
I did another test i pulled the top cylinder spark plug wire and eng didn?t die or noticed any change or hesitation, However i could hear some good electro static connection between the tip of the spark plug and the wire. So i place it back and moved to the second one ..Same result , then i moved to the 3rd and last cylinder OOH MAN
that thing got a hold of my hand and want let go baamm ENG stutter and died ..So am not sure if that such a valid test that left me to believe i might have a weak 2 coils ...All your help and suggestion is really appreciated. Am planning to pick up 2 coil?s but I figured before I do that to check for input
