ive got a 200hp 98 evinrude ocean pro that doesnt want to run all the sudden.

was running perfect all day, then on the way in it stalled repeatedly and then eventually wouldnt run for more than a few seconds. checked the water sep and it was FULL of dirty water.

today i replaced the water sep, engine fuel filter, and drained the carbs. still has the same problem. i just doesnt want to run, and always dies when you try to give it throttle. the plugs are almost new and in great shape, and put my spark checker on it... fires all six.

for you guys that are more experienced with these omc's, i was just wondering where you would look next? dirty carbs? fuel pump?

Did you do anything about the dirty water in your fuel tank? Fuel floats on top of water, and fuel pickup in tank is on bottom of tank. It sounds like you are not getting gas but mostly water. Pull fuel line from motor and see what comes out. You probably neet to drain/flush/and fill tank with clean gas.

dont think theres much more water in there, i think it built up gradually in the separator. but yeah the tank was apparently dirty from sitting for a long time before i got the boat.

Try it on a portable tank. See if there is any difference.
May need to clean out the entire fuel system if water has got in there.

heres a little update...

i found out theres a lot more water in the tank. i flushed out the carbs and it ran fine again today. but... the racor is continually picking up water, a pretty good bit too. so i managed to burn out most of the last 1/4 tank today, and i guess im going to have my tank drained and cleaned. i drained the racor at least 6 times today will i was out fishing, every time it was at least half full of water.
