Help with 30hp 3 cylinder

I just picked up this motor and i noticed it having problems when i get to 1/4-1/2 throttle. Sounds like its almost flooding out or bogging down...if you can reach full throttle before it dies it works itself out after a few seconds..The motor is way behind on its throttle response....At idle its smooth, in neutral you would never know it had a problem....What should I be looking for? The motor is an 87' Yamaha

Carbs need cleaning is my best guess

yamaha or suzuki? time for a good carb clean .... maybe set the air/fuel mix ... 1 & 1/2 turns outwards from soft stop ....
