help with 35hp looper cuts out under load

Hi all, Have a 1996 3cyl 35hp. Carbs and timing set up recently by a local workshop, cylinders all firing blue on the spark test, starts from cold with only a couple of revoulutions of the flywheel and ticks over perfectly. But kick it into gear and as soon as load comes on engine stops? Service guy rekons could be a leak into crankcase and he says its going to be $1000 if this is the case. Any help or a test of how to find out if there is a leak between cylinders would be good

What makes him say a leak in the crankcase ???? just an expensive guess ???
Do a compression test and post back.
Everyone can go from there.

Hi guys compression good over 100 on all cylinders, engine runs good in a bucket even clutched in it chucks all the water out but as soon as you have load on the water its no good, spluttering and no power, carbs have been fully checked out and cleaned etc.

I've just done a compression test again to double check and all 3 cylinders are from top 110psi 105psi and 105 psi

Carbs soaked and new kits put in?

The service guy just told be the carbs had been fully cleaned and setup and they are good, thats all I know, he's worked on outboards for 30 odd years so he's trustworthy and I think/hope he knows what he is talking about
