help with 69 merc

i need to put seals in my lower unit and my book is not here yet could any one tell me how to take it apart. like what bolts and where they are all located. it's a 1969 350 35hp serial #2572550 yes i have water in my lower unit any help would be great thanks :mad:

Hi Ratt,<br /> Great old motors - I've got a '69 with a tiller that I rebuilt last winter and have been running a bit this season.<br /> For starters, you'll have to remove the trim tab to access the rear lower unit stud. Access the trim tab bolt with a 5/16" (I think) Allen wrench coming down through the hold in the top of the leg. Before removing the tab, mark it's position. Remove the nut underneath, the one forward above the prop, and the two on either side above the cavitation plate. The unit should drop down.<br /> On top of the unit you'll see the water pump housing - the base contains the upper seal. It's likely that your motor is leaking at that seal, as often the carbon steel shafts would rust at that point. I've fixed several shafts using JB Weld to fill the pits and have had good success so far...<br />- Scott

thanks chinewalker droped the lower unit today came right off with out any problems do you have any parts for this year motor?
