Hi! I just happened across your forum, and have had a great time reading the posts. I just got a 7.5 hp Fishing Scott. The ID plate is damaged, so I can make out only the last part of the modle number
(300711 1547). Another part of the tag says that max rpm is 4500, and full throttle is 4200 - 4800. the unit seems to be in good condition. I understand that McCulloch made it. What I need to know is, what lube is used in the lower end? there seem to be several zirk type grease fittings on the unit, what type grease is used? And of course, what is the fuel mix? I am looking forward to getting this toy running as it should push our 12' Livingston nicely. Thanks for your help:D

Re: Help with a 7.5 Fishing Scott

It uses standard outboard gear lube.I think most any water resistant grease will work.If it was mine I'd be using what ever was in the gun.
Motor is a 63. 40:1 fuel mix with todays TCW3 rated oil.
These are nice little motors but have been out of business about 39 years.
Thus parts can be a tough assignment. You may find an impeller and points
here at iboats. The antique Outboard Motor Club www.aomci.org
may be able to help. The other problem is all the low profile motors
can be a pain to work on.but make up for it being little and light.

Thanks for the information Steelespike! it is no exaggeration to say that it is tight under the hood! Still, it will be fun to play with. Thanks again:)
