New to boating and we bought an 88 Bayliner Capri, with an OMC Cobra,i/o motor. The problem is lowering the prop from the "trailering" position. Everyone says there is a button/switch, but cant seem to locate that. Also people have said there is a lock or something holding it in place, but can't find that either. Button labeled Trim up/down makes clicking noise when pressed so assume power to solenoid...

Anybody know what is wrong, or what I am missing?
Thanks!

Re: help with Bayliner Capri 88

You only have power to PART of the solenoid, and if you hear the click, then you obviously found the button.
There are two parts to a solenoid or relay. The control part (that makes it go "Click") and the power part that supplies power to the trim motor. The small terminals are the control part and the large terminals are the power to the motor.
Don't take this wrong, but I think you need to find someone with knowledge about boats and have them show you a few things on the operation of the controls.

sjclark - Definitely agree with Don S. I took my boat to a reputable technician and paid him 50 bucks to tell me all about my boat and its operation. Best 50 bucks I ever spent. Also, I once had a similar problem...turned out that the marina had put a pair of guards on the trim cylinders, and I had not removed them. The clicking continued until I blew a fuse. Check to make sure that you don't have any guards on the trim cylinders.
