I got a Glastron SX175 2001. It's more of a ski boat, but I like to bass fish too. I wanted to mount a trolling motor on the front, and here is a pic of the bow. Not looking too good, unless you guys think I could fit a mounting plate there. Do you think I could even acess to put a backing plate? Ignore the metal bars in the picture, it's just the tower folded down. Thanks!

You have plenty of space although the ruler could be angled just a bit more outward so the troller when stowed would follow the side of the boat a little more. As for the interference with the Nav light, you need only make some spacers (wood, Starboard, or fiberglass) to raise the plate up for clearance. Just a couple weeks ago I posted some solutions for getting large fender washers through a small hole to serve as a backer. That thread pertained to an almost identical situation to yours. I don't care to go into all that detail again so use the search feature. In the meantime I will look for that post.

Looks like that thread is here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=234469

Also another good thread here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=237902

I never saw a good solution. You mentioned using some fancy fiberglass skills to mold to the front lines of the bow, then make it into a flat surface. This may be what it takes, but sounds like quite the undertaking, so I just wanted to check on here first.

Also, looks like its a tight fit to get your hand up under there for those washers. Maybe I found the wrong thread that describes how you are getting them up in there?
