Help with depth finder

Hi everyone,Glad to be part of your threads,I have a problem with my depth finder, It is a Impulse QT-204, It seems to work fine but it has black area's where you can't hardly read the numbers,is this something that can be fixed or does someone have one of the same kind,I don't want to have to change all my wires and stuff..

I am going to assume you mean a Uniden Impulse QT 204 which looks like it has been replaced by the QT 206. If this is the case you are talking about black region in the LCD display itself.

I have seen LCD displays do this when they get exposed directly to sun and get real hot. Sometimes when they get real cold you will see similar effects with the crystal freezing and the display is partial or won't update.

In general nothing you can do. The LCD is a sealed unit and when they quit working you have to replace them.
