Hello Everyone I am a new comer. I own a 1966 Elgin model no 574-60621. My question is I am replacing my old type steering Tiller, cable and pulley system with a Telflex Safe T QC mechanical system. Can someone please help me with this that did the same with theirs. Basically would like to know if I should use a splashwell mount, or a transom mount and what kind of connection to the motor.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Re: Help with Elgin

You may allready know your motor was built by McCulloch. Would help a little to know The horse power of the motor and
size/style of the boat. Pictures are probably a must, you'll have to use a host site for pics.
As far as attaching to the motor you may be able to adapt your present fitting or fabricate an adaptor for it.
Motors back then were pretty generic in the style of a remote steering setup not interchangeable but similar attachment
devices.
