Help with engine ID

Helping a buddy ID his engine. Boat is new to him. I couldn't find a serial number anywhere so if someone could point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated. Engine is a V8 in a 2003 Mariah deck boat. He got the boat from his father-in-law and the FIL is sending the paperwork from it's last service, hoping that might have the engine info as well.

There is usually a metal tag with the serial number riveted to the rear of the engine block, just above the starter.

If tag is not there look in position 3 for the block casting number

Ayuh,..... It's a SBC for sure,..... Either a 305, or a 350,....

In AD's picture, ya might find a 5.0l, or 5.7l in areas 2 or 3,....
