Hi, I have a 99 johnson 90Hp engine and there is a loud ticking noise comming from my powerhead.
It sounds like two metal parts hitting and it goes together with the rpm.
From what I can hear it sounds like it is comming from under the fly wheel.

The engine starts up very nice and runs stable around 800 - 1000 rpm, it shifts nice and solid.

This is already what my mechanic checked.

VRO pump
Loose magnets under flywheel
electric arching
piston hitting spark plug.
removed spark plugs wire one by one while running to see if theer was a change in noise.
top crank bearing
the tail oil is clear and no metal shavings in it. Waterpump just completely replaced.

And still can't find the problem, next thing he suggests is taking the engine apart ...

Is there anybody that can think of something else we looked over or might have an idea what it could be....

Thanks
Stef
