You most certainly need to pull the oil tank and clean out very very thoroughly and fill with a top quality two stroke oil....doesn't matter if merc, yamaha, johnson, all are good....just don't get a basic walmart or penzoil crap(yellowdeath).....you don't say what year the engine is....do you have the correct gauges from evinrude with the oil warning? the later vro is good...the earlier wasn't....what year?????

i have no idea what model the engine is, the boat is a 88 21' 10" bullet but i know that means nothing. so i need to remove the oil tank and wash it out good and replace with fresh oil. is that all??

Re: HELP with evindude 200XP VRO please

the oil should have a label.
TCW III
also after you clean the VRO tank and change the filter sock in the tank you wil need to prime the oil line to the pump.
mark the level of oil on the tank.
run the engine on 50:1 until you verified the vro pump is indeed oiling the engine.
test all the warning alarms by grounding them one by one.
depending on how the engine was put away i would rebuild the carbs just to be sure.
change the thermostats and replace the waterpump.
put new plugs in and you should be good to go.

Your best bet is to get a factory service manual. And try to get the real thing, not the imitation manuals.

at the top[ is the sticky files click on that and find what you are looking for other than that a factory manual would be your best bet as suggested before this wont be the last time you need it wise investment for sure:D
