I have an older garmin 230 mapping GPS. Towards the end of last year, the internal battery went dead and I lost all my waypoints and could no longer save any routes, waypoints, etc. I had a message saying something to the effect of "Internal battery power is low" so I looked in my manual and it says that the internal batter is dead and I should contact a local Garmin rep. for service. I called Garmin and they said that since this is an older model, they no longer will work on them. They told me just to remove the battery and replace it. I did so and I am still getting the message saying battery power is low. I am thinking that maybe there is a reset on the unit somewhere, but I have no idea where to look. I am hoping to find someone who knows what needs to be done to fix this. The unit works great, if I could get this problem straightened out. Hope someone can give me some needed input.
Thanks Ryan

Is the memory now working?

If it is, I'd try leaving the battery out overnight and let the charge to the CMOS dissipate. Hooking the battery back up in the morning will cause the system to ?reboot?.

If the unit will not hold memory then you may have something else wrong It could be bad contacts on the battery contacts to a parts failure in the circuitry.

No, the memory is not working. I am getting the same message as I got before changing the battery. That is why I thought maybe there was a reset on the unit that i needed to mess with.
