Help With Identifying This Motor

Can someone possibly tell me a model number for this motor. It is supposed to be a 1996 model year. As you can see, the serial number is worn off. I'd like to know exactly what I have so I can order a manual and be able to order parts correctly and perform routine maintenance.

Please forgive me if this should have been posted in the Force section but when I've bought parts or had the trim motor replaced by a dealer, they've treated this like a Mercury motor.

While I don't have any problems at the present, there are some "un-connected" wires inside of which I'd like to know what they were or are. The boat was checked by a Mercury dealer locally (a Premier Dealer) and nothing was said about this.

Thanks everyone in advance.

It's a Force by Mercury. From the electronics I'm going to guess around 93-94 being its not using the newer CDM's.

I don't think what you posted was the sn. Keep looking. You will find it.

Re: Help With Identifying This Motor

There are no stamped plugs on those motors.

Serial or model number MAY appear on the white paper assembly tag on the port side of the head, or on the starter mounting bracket, but those look pretty faded.

Motor is 93-94-95. All parts from 93-94-95 70hp were interchangeable.

Decals on top cowl are identical to my '95.

Extra wire, brown or tan, is just that, extra.

Thanks, I guess it's not a 96 as I was told. What you said makes sense as when you look up on various parts web-sites, they don't show a 70hp for 1996, only a 75hp. I guess I shouldn't be concerned with the model number as you say all parts are interchangeable?

White stickers are unreadable.
