Hello, I'm looking for a year for a 35 hp Gale motor model# 35DG13BL.

I have a 1964 28hp Johnson RX-12m and the motor look very similar to the Gale. I'm wondering if I could use the Gale for parts.

Thanks

Your Gale is a 1953 (reverse first two numbers of model number). Your Johnson is a 64 model. Don't know about parts interchangeability. The guys on the Ask A Member board at http://www.aomci.org would know for sure though.

35 stands for 35 hp.I find a 35DE13b 1960 electric start
and a 35D13B deluxe 1960.The 28 model ran from 60-64 My guess is that quite a few parts will interchange.
28 Cubes are the same as the 30 hp from 56.
25 Gale from 60-64 is listed in the same maintenance section as the 28 E/J.

Re: Help with info on 35hp Gale

Thanks for the info steelespike. I figured it was too close of a match to my 64 Johnson to be from 1953.

I doubled cheecked the model number and I did have it correct- 35DG1BL. The serial number is 798431.

It does have electric start and a charging system. I don't know if this was considered "deluxe" or not.

Sure would be. The charging system was an option on all but the electric shifting outboards, as well as the electric start.

I'm not sure if the Gale didn't use the older style connecting rods with bushings at it's little ends. So stick to 24:1 on that one.

The carburetor body ought to be slightly different inside - check the size & number of idle orifices on the top of the carb's bore, just around where the throttle plate rides.
