I got myself a free boat. its a 15-16ft commandor tri-hull. I knew that the transom needed repairing so I started looking in to fixing it with two aluminum plates sandwiching the existing transom. I now have the top shell off the boat and the old marine mulch out and down to the exterior glass my deck is flexible so i peeled back a little more interior glass skin. all wood is saturated with water and pulls out by hand in small sections except 70% of the stringers. where do I start now what wood (acx or expensive marine) resins and cloth should i use to bring this back to life.

Re: help with materials

I guess what I am asking is since this is my first boat. although it may be a piece. Is there any reason to keep it or should I start looking around. it came with a 55hp chrysler and trailer. the motor has excellent compression and there is nothing wrong with the trailer. the hull has no cracks or repairs. the reason that I believe that it got this way is there are all sorts of screw holes in the deck from previous seating and what not. isn't epoxy better than poly? do chryslers tend to be good or bad motors? the first thing I did was buy a fibreglass manual from west systems.
