Help with Mercury Optimax

I have 2001 Mercury Optimax 150 that when I start up, the motor rises up on its own to approximately 1500 RPM and then cuts off. It will start up every time but won't stay at idle and again RPM rises up and cut off. Spark plugs, ignition switch,water relief pressure valve, thermostat, water pump rebuilt, 1000 CCA battery,TPS's, spark plugs wire,and impeller were replaced, all the connections were checked and seems to be in working order. Everything is fine according to smartcraft. If I give it some gas and keep it going the engine maxed out at roughly around 3000 RPM ( seems like not all cylinders working) put it back to neutral and it instantly died off, fuel and water pressure test all within spec. Roughly around 1600 hrs on motor. Thank you for reading and if you have any ideas, please help.

Sounds like your Fuel or Air Pressure is low. This could be caused by leaking Regulator Diaphrams. Check this website...ThePelicanServices.com and then go to Fuel Rail page.

I had a similar problem with my 115 2008 it was a blown coil pack. Happened 2 times in a row, I found that when the motor was trimmed down one of the wires going into the motor was rubbing between the boat and the motor and exposed the wire. I can't say for sure that when I fixed the wire it solved my problem but so far I have not blown a 3rd coil pack since I fixed it. You can turn your motor over and check for spark in each wire.
