The ladder on my swim platform is loose and the screws are stripped out. The swim platform if fiberglass. Can I just use some bigger screws? What is the proper way to repair this?I also want to know the best way to mount the mounts for my bimini top to the gunwale which are fiberglass as well.

If the "Holes" are Above the Water Line, I would consider using Toggle bolts instea of screws. If Below the water line, I would drill them over sized, filled with Marine Tex, PC-11, or JB Aqua Weld and re tap.

Re: Help with mounting to fiberglass

On my Sea Ray I had the same issue last year I just used 1/2" lag screws to get me through the season but when I get her out this spring I have some 1/2" SS bolts and threaded mounting plates ready to secure it for good. I have a shelf (swim platform)that extends past the transom with a 2" pocket which is just enough room to secure the SS threaded mounting plate in and tighten it down.
