My very old teak pulpit has seen it's better days. It measures about 23 inches long, is 10 inches wide at the base and has a 10x1 inch slit in the center for the rope to run through. It is two pieces of wood glued together. There are 3 bolts that hold it onto the boat.
Thinking I may have to make one. Looks like a teak wood was used. Any advice on where to find a good wood for this purpose or to locate a pre made one?

You're probably going to have to make one. As far as where to get the wood, check with some high end cabinet shops, high end railing companies or high end furniture makers, these are about the only places I can think of or try the net.

Check out a wood called 'Epay' for replacement. It's a brazilian hardwood with characteristics very similar to teak, at nowhere near the cost. My neighbor built his swim platform from it and it came out great.

These are glued and screwed together. Glue alone will probably not be sufficient. Any lumberyard that specializes in exotic woods will carry both Teak and "Ipe"

I found Oak, plan to use two and laminate them with Frog Glue and clamps. Seal them with Polyurethane and see how it works.

Screws, make them tongue and groove. It will help with warping and separating along the joint.

Stainless or brass screws for the wood. Size depends on the thickness of the wood, you want a good bite in the wood, but you want plenty of wood left for strength.

I have completed the Wooden Pulpit! Not perfect my any means but pretty good if I do say so myself. Still have finishing touches and more sanding to do. The steel pulpit that the rope runs through was mounted on the wooden pulpit and had 4 bolts running completely through the wood. Both pieces of wood equals 1 and 1/2 inch thick. The Gorilla Glue worked great and I placed a bead of Gorilla Sealer around the edge before putting the two together. Will end with Polyurethane then mound on the boat. I did this while waiting for my Carburetor to be overhauled again!
