help with outboard swap

burned up a 1990 johnson 120hp vro last year and recently got a mid 75 115 evinrude from a friend to replace the old motor. the 115 evinrude had the p[owerhead replaced last year and the lower unit was done 3 years ago the motor ran great last year. my question is what is involved in switching motors? will the cable and fuel supply lines match or will i have to find new stuff. when my friend took the motor off of his old boat he did not take the controls with it. also my old motor had automatic oil injection and this motor requires premix what do i need to do to disable my oil tank any help will be appreciated thank you

NOTHING TO IT .EVERYTHING WILL BOLT RIGHT UP.ELECTRICAL PLUGS,CABLES,HOSES ALL THE SAME .AS FOR THE OIL TANK JUST UNPLUG IT FROM THE OLD MOTOR AND REMOVE IT FROM THE BOAT. P.S.DON'T FORGET TO MIX YOUR GAS BEFORE YOU TRY TO FIRE UP THE NEW MOTOR.

Re: help with outboard swap

I am not sure I understand your question.

you are talkin about pulling the newer motor off completely and putting the older one on instead??? but use the new controls for the old motor??

If thats the case you will have some work to do with the controls.. the newer one probably has mechanical gearbox, (don't know because I haven't seen one.)
The older one may have the Hydro Electric gearbox, in which case, you will have to do some wiring to add a switch and so on to the control box..

Don't know about the rest of the wiring, but I'd be very careful hooking it up.. although OMC tends to leave the wiring using the same color codes, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are compatable.

When you asked if you had to disable your oil tank, that made me think you want to put the older powerhead onto the newer leg..

if thats the case, its a whole new keetle of fish and probably a significant task..

rgds

Frank
