Help with power trim, bleeding down, need rebuild.

I have a 1969 Evinrude 115hp V4. My power trim will work enough to raise and lower the motor, but if you trim it up and hammer the throttle it pushes it right down. Also if left up in the air on the trailer it will bleed down. There is visible oil on the trim cylinder and hydraulic fluid pooling on the bottom of the transom mount. I believe the seals in the hydraulic ram are shot, but I can't seem to track down a replacement ram or rebuild kit. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Christian

Well after a lot of reading I learned that this is only a power tilt option (1 cylinder and 1 shock absorber) and that it isn't supposed to be able to hold itself against thrust. I would however like to find the leak at some point. At least its one thing I can put on the back burner until winter...

At least you know your "trim" is broke. Do you have a manual that would show the gaskets you need? I'm sure you could find the individual gaskets, just maybe not in a 'kit'. You'll need a spanner wrench too, I'd imagine. Sounds like a good winter project, just keep the fluid in it this summer. Good luck.

Yeah, it works, just leaks, so it will most likely be one of those things that is a "I'll get to it some day" but in reality it won't get fixed until it no longer functions, which at that point I'll hopefully have a different boat anyway, haha.
