Hello,
I am new to the forum and just looking for some advice and opinions.
I just picked up a Sears 3.5 HP motor, it seems to have good compression but won't start and the propeller turns when I try to pull start it but there is no spark going to the spark plug would this be the magneto, if anyone could help or give me any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Or if it is even something that is worth trying to get to run, Thank you.

I took the number off the tag of the motor, but I couldn't find anything on it or parts.

Re: Help with Sears 3.5 HP

As usual I forgot to welcome you. Good luck with your little motor.
It is a 72 built by Eska for Sears. Some use solidstate ignition some regular magneto with points.Solid state are prone to failure.Impellers usually need replacing.Carbs can be problematic.Eska uses a Tecumseh air cooled power head with a water cooled exhaust leg. They have been out of business for over 20 years.Water should mist out the relief holes on the leg.
You may find part numbers at Sears.com or some such address.Certified parts corp may have parts.A pristine perfectly running Eska might be worth $100.But you seldom find one.I wouldn't invest too mch in getting it running.
