I was working on my motor today and some how I broke one of the ends of my shift cable. I broke the very end of the plastic where it attaches to the motor. Can I buy a replacment end or do I have to buy a whole new cable

look on the cable end, just in from where it broke. If you see a small square thing that looks like a minature pipe plug, you may loosen it with a cresant wrench and the cable end will come off. You can certainly get a replacement from a junk cable, although, you might try a marine parts store, followed by a Merc Dealer.
