Hello,
I have a 1994 Four Winns Horizon 180 with an OMC 5.0 Cobra.

Recent Work Done:
  • Rebuilt Carb - 2 weeks ago
  • New Starter - 1 month ago
  • New Fuel Filter - 1 month ago

I've cleaned the Flame Arrestor...It's sparkling clean. When I start it in my driveway, it sounds and runs perfect!

The Problem:
No problems starting it up, backing it away from the ramp. I can go 5 mph like a champ, but the second I gradually take it up past just 1200 RPMs, it dies on me. Today I was unable to get over 5-10 mph. At one point it went up to a whole 1500 RPMs...Woohoo.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas??

Thanks

When did this problem start, before of after the carb was rebuilt?

Well, it was rebuilt about 2 months ago...Then I had it rebuilt AGAIN about a week ago. After this second time is when it started stalling every time I tried to give it some gas.

Ayuh,.... So it was Rebuilt,.. Twice...
The Question is,... Is it Working properly,...????

You're There,.... We can't see a damn Thing....

It takes Fuel, Fire,+ Compression, All at the right Time....
You tell Us which of the 4 is Missing when it won't Run.....

Re: Help with Stalling

Maybe not getting enough gas for whatever reason? Plugged fuel line or fuel filter or water seperator? I know you have a new filter, but maybe try removing the fuel line from the cab and sucking gas with a pump and see if it can pull enough gas with little effort.

If not that, has to be the carb or bad/weak spark. I had somewhat similar problems with my boat dropping dead after X minutes and my coil, which tested fine, was crapping out after a few minutes.

Is the timing OK and ignition components all gapped correctly, etc? Don't know if thats breakerless igntion or what...?

Re: Help with Stalling

Sounds more like fuel delivery problem. There are tons of causes. First check your filters and anti-siphon valve...I'll let the others fill in the rest.
