help with steering system

hi all; luhrs 280 sportfisher 1972. teleflex single helm drum. cable broke right at drum. easiest/best fix ?. reattatch broken cable if poss? feed in new cable( bummer,bad access). help if anyone has done this. thank you, ed cooper.

personally, i would replace the complete system, with a new teleflex system. new cable at the least.

The Cable is a Non-Servicable Part,.......
And,.....
When you get around to Pricing out the Cable,......
You'll see that the New Helm is Almost Free when you buy the Complete System..........

thanks for the quick replys fellas. looks like i`m getting a new system. any advise or trick on getting the new one in ? it go`es behind and under a lot of inaccesable places before going up the pvc tube to the bridge.new boat to me.just won at auction (sight unseen).still getting used to her. love this boat .gunna make her run and look like new(with your good guidance)thanks again guys, ed cooper:)

Secure the "New" 1 to the "Old" 1,+ use the old 1 to Pull the New 1 through.............

i`m feeling better all the time. present system is rotary---stern to helm--care and patience---use old cable to pull through--i can do this !!!! thanks, ed cooper. i will post some pics when i take some.(if i can figure out how)

Some might convert to hydraulic, but I'd stay with cables on a 28 myself - might consider the dual cable system.
