Help with stringers

Hey, I just bought a 1990 Wellcraft sportsman 25' I/O. This is a complete restoration and I have found that all the stringers have rot in them. I just replaced the transom so I'm searching for the most efficient way to fix the stringers. Do you have to cut out everything or can you cut the fiberglass skin off one side or off the top? Then replace the core with wood or filler? Pls help with any suggestions?

Everything has to come out and be ground down to "good glass". It's a lot of messy dirty bloody work, but it needs to be done to make sure everything is tied together correctly.

There are some products and methods that don't require removing everything.

You can cut the tops off and use a pour in product, it tends to be rather pricy though.

You can also cut the top off and just replace the wood and glass over it.

These methods seem easier, but can be a hassle too, so most people remove everything. Also the original quality tends to be rather poor sometimes, and after an inspection taking it all out may be a better plan.

I can't imagine removing the wood core of a stringer and then trying to reinsert a piece of wood and getting it properly bonded to the old glass skins working at all. Granted I am new to all of this and all I know is from what I've read on here for the last year and what I've done restoring my boat for the last few months, but I just don't see that happening.

Thanks for the information. Has anyone ever replaced the stringers on a 25'Wellcraft cuddie cabin? I'm trying to figure out if I have to pull the top cap off?
