Hey people. I have a 16' walk through open bow Monarch with a 1986 90 hp evinrude. The trim system is mounted on the Transom under the motor and its starting to not lift/lower the motor. I was told I need to add hydraulic fluid and I'm not sure where the resivoir is located. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Help with Trim

The resevoir will be on the right, looking at the unit. It will have a large slotted screw on the front, that is the fill. Top it up, cycle it 5 to 6 times, back to the fully trimmed out position, re fill, cycle it 5 to 6 times to the fully trimmed out position, etc... until you can no longer add any fluid.

I saw that screw but was not sure what it was for. Should I use regular hydraulic fluid or is there a certain type? Thanks

Re: Help with Trim

You can use BRP tilt/trim fluid or Dextron 2 atf. I think it is now called Dextron 3.
