Hello everyone,
OK, this engine sat for a year or two. I cleaned the carb, flushed old gas and replaced the plugs. The engine starts easily but has what seems like a big missfire during warmup. Not sure if carb is adjusted correctly and may need to check points.

Model # 225.581990
Serial # 1398
Any ideas on making this smooth runnin? Can I time this engine and how?

Thanks in advance,
Slimbob

I'm not an expert but this is what I do with misfires to trouble shoot.
Get the motor warmed up first.. may take a few minutes to get the head warm. Shut her down. Take your setscrew on the carb and screw it in till slighty tight (keep track of your revolutions in to get back where you started if needed). Then back out 1 and 1/2 turns (factory setting I believe for your motor). Fire it up. see if that helps. If not, then adjust slightly in and out (less then 1/2 turn I would assume). If this doesnt help, start looking at your supply line for vacume leak, could be a fuel pump issue (clogged filter? or bad diaphram-may need rebuilt). Bad connector to the motor? Loose fuel line to the carb.... Start simple with the carb adjustment(be sure to keep track of how many turns in you made).
