Hi,

I have a 1981 2hp evinrude (E2RCIB). I bought the water pump kit (763736) and have a question about installation. I put it together but I can't screw the housing together. DO I use the "bowl" that comes with the kit? The water pump in the motor appears to be the original one as the the PO told me they never changed it (as far as he knows and he and his dad were the original owners) and it did not have a "bowl". Does anyone have experience with this water pump? My service manual does not show the bowl but the instructions with the kit does.

Thanks!

The parts diagram SEE HERE does not show any "bowl"

The original number for the repair kit was 787362 but 763736 is listed as the equivalent. It may contain parts for other pumps !

Re: Help with Water pump

I am confused by what I am finding in the parts lists.

Compare the old impeller and the new one. If they are the same dimensions, height and diameter, then I would say simply fit the new impeller in place of the old one, but I am surprised that the cup will fit!

If they are not (and the new one is slightly smaller) I would say it is intended to be used with the cup provided but if the cup prevents the cover fitting properly I am stumped.
