So im going to start to restore this boat and after many hrs (too many the wife thinks...) I have no idea where to start.. I know that building a floor will be one of the first task. I have watched many youtube videos and still have no idea what to do with this floor. From the looks of it the stringers were screwed into the part of the floor in pictures. I circled it in red in one of the pictures. Could someone pls help me with what my first steps would be. Do i need to remove whatever that is on the floor or can i attach the stringers to it?

Thanks
Chris

You get out the saw, set it for the same depth as the thickness of the plywood, then start cutting. Big pieces, small pieces, whatever it takes to get it all out.

^^^^ What he said! be careful to only cut the dept of the floor. You dont want to cut through anything unwanted.... many have sliced right through the hull!!!

NO :nono: DON'T simply install new plywood on top of the floor. That is only asking for trouble and adding weight. The original floor has to be removed. Like stated above use a skill type saw and set the depth to just the thickness of the floor wood. Then go around the perimeter and cut it out. It will look like a huge mess, but it will make sense as you get going on this project. Once you get the floor out, take pictures and post them back here for us to see what it looks like underneath. Then we will offer the best directions to get this done. JMHO

Be careful the deck is tabbed into the sides of the hull bottom . Start in the center and cut out a section .. Probe around to figure out where the actual hull bottom is so you don't cut through ...
