Hello great forum. This is my first post here. I am a regular on a Bayliner forum but thought I would try you all out for thoughts as well. I am attaching a picture of a mess beneath my console. I have the engine out (waiting on a replacement). I have a dual battery system (84 Bayliner Explorer, cuddy cabin).

It would be nice if there was a console I could 'slip' in, plug a harness into and 'woala' all systems would work, I don't think theres such a thing though. Any thoughts on where or how to start?

I REALLY need to get power at the back end now. I need to get my stern drive down (change out a bearing). I would be able to do this if all was hooked up but is there a way to get power to something and "make" it work (without the engine_)?

I am sure I'll get some good advice from you all.

Re: Help with wiring at console and battery

There is a "Generic Boat Wiring Diagram" as a sticky at the very top of this forum. Below is a diagram of a dual battery switch. If you have an I/O rather than an outboard, the diagram still applies. The two cables going to the motor are the two battery cables. All accessories except the bilge pump should be wired to the COM terminal on the switch. The bilge pump should be wired directly to one of the batteries so it remains operational when the switch is off.

Just so you know, Great Lakes Skipper (greatlakesskipper.com) does have various gauge clusters that are plug-n-play. But you would still need to wire up the boat side of the system.
