I picked up a what I think is a 1959 35 hp Johnson super seahorse. I believe it the 59 only because of the design of the top. I think the 35hp super seahorse was only available in 58-59. I can not find any numbers, I have looked in the common places. I did find a round chrome plate about size of a nickel. With the# 1969761. Using that # compleatly throughs off my idia of what it is.

That serial number was built in 1959. How odd that it starts with 1969...just a coincidence so don't try to read too much into it. All it means is that it was the 1,969,761st motor Johnson built since they started counting.

Thank you. Can you tell me what model # it is. It's electric and rope start. Also does it have an alternator to keep the battery charged?

If it is a plastic / fibreglass hood and white it is a 1959 model.------No alternator on them.----There was a belt driven generator as an option available on them.
