You need to do all of the electrical tests on the stator and coils however if I was a gambling man, it would be the switchbox...Buy Mallory they are less then half the price of Merc and made in Germany....still should do the tests before throwing a switchbox at it...

Re: helppp!!!

Always remember, there is NO RETURN on electrical parts.

PROVE the fault before ordering any parts as it gets expensive fast to just start replacing parts, hoping that 'this part' will solve your problem.

With that out of the way, a bad Bias circuit on the sparking switchbox will block the other box from sparking. Disconnect the Bias wires from both switchboxes and retest for spark, if you now have spark everywhere, replace at least the original sparking switchbox. Note that your bad switchbox can still be used on a three cyl motor just fine. Also note, the factory recommends replacing switchboxes in pairs.

If the Bias did NOT retstore spark, switch the stator wires between the switchboxes and retest for spark, if this causes spark to switch sides on the motor then the stator is bad.

If neither the above made any change in spark then the second switchbox is bad.
