This is my boat that I bought three years ago. It is a 79 Thompson 17.5ft bowrider with with a 2.3L and yes an OMC out drive. But on a good note I have not had a problem with it yet. I believe the p/o took really good care of it. It is pretty good shape for being 30 years old.
I have used it for three seasons now. I am hopeful to get in the garage this winter to replace the deck. I removed a 2ft by 4ft section of the deck next to the engine bay and all of the stringers under there and in the engine bay are still solid and dry. I hope that is what I will find under the rest of it. Just wishful thinking. I have to take it off of the trailer and take the out drive off for it to fit in my garage so I built a stand to cradle the whole hull from the bottom all the way to the sides. Of course it is not finished yet I still have to build the stand for it. But this is what it looks like so far.
It is amazing what some rubbing compound will do even without an electric wheel. It almost looks new again.
Well they wont let me put any more pics in this post so I have to go it is almost 1am anyway I will start a restoration thread when I start the work.
