Just thought I'd post this since some of you have commented about wanting to own a steel hulled boat. http://norfolk.craigslist.org/boa/828918261.html No,I'm not buying it....don't know how much it is, but thats more than I can afford.:redface: Just somthing fun to look at.

Is the concept of a steel hull good or bad? It sounds like if you maintained it (paint etc) it might outlast fiberglass and especially wood. I dont know though as I am a noobie.

Almost any boat worthy of being called a ship is made of steel.

I am used to anything that floats on the water made of steel being a target

My neighbor built a ketch in steel. He doesn't know wood, but knows how to weld - go with what you know. Boat is about 20 years old and looks great. It participates in a race to Norfolk every year.

He probably wants $10k minimum for it, maybe more. I wish I had that kind of cash. Maybe someday I will.

I'd repower with diesels myself, not the crusaders, and probably redo the interior... nothing wrong with the classic look, but I prefer something more modern/custom.

a couple o big diesils and well be plaining at 30 knots

Oh yah, I'm a TIG welder. Not the best in the state, but I'm adequate

The looovee boat... soon we'll be making another run.... the loooove boat... promises something for everyone....
