Hi guys, I'm new here, and to forums in general really, so please bear with me. And if I'm posting in the wrong section, please feel free to tell me. I picked up a 1958 Lonestar Malibu the other day, seems to be in decent shape for the year and being aluminum.

The Boat... please excuse the photo's for their clarity, i used my cell to take them.

It has a (currently not running, though hopefully soon) 65 or 66 Merc 350 35hp outboard on it. I'm waiting for the new starter to come in.

Has anyone had any experiences with this boat?

The whole setup is sweet, love the fins. Your best chance of getting some great feedback would be on the main forum at fiberglassics.com There is a aluminum section as well , maybe post up there later. Those guys love boats and trailers like yours.See you there.

Welcome Aboard!

COOL BOAT!!!!!!!!!

I love vintage tin!

There is a forum here on iboats just for Lonestar boats, it's on the home page "Forums by Manufacturer" Listed alphabetically.
You can post OB repair questions in the OB repair section. Come on in, browse around and again, great boat!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I'll definately throw this under the lonestar section and give it a try over at fiberglassics. I agree with you Stachi, the brown seats are definately coming out. I'm thinking of doing white folding seats in the front, and probably captains chairs in back. I'll be doing a decent amount of fishing in this thing, as well as plain old lake cruisin.

This is probably the worst and most unsafe boat and motor ever built! I'm surprised that it hasn't self destructed in your driveway with great bodily harm to anyone nearby. My advice: Don't touch it. Stay as far away from it as possible. Send me your address and I will be there in a few days to take it off your hands and dispose of it safely. Naturally, I will have to take the trailer as well and will want the title to boat and trailer just in case anyone asks for them. It will be a tough and dirty job, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice for the good of mankind.

In other words you are one lucky dog and I envy you.

We have had a 58 Lone star 14ft utility in the family since 58.Ours is beefy rugged and never spent a munute inside.Never a transom problem and still on the original seats. though the covering is getting a little raggedy. My only complaint is if you step close to the edge near where the deck starts its very sensitive. Our deck was shorter it may have been more sensitive in that spot.

The brown seats gotta stay! Plus, you need to get a vintage men's fedora hat and old smoking pipe. Then and only then will you look like all those old time boaters I saw while growing up out there in that same boat.

I'll be continuing work on the boat on tuesday... I've got a starter coming in monday to put on the outboard. Between work and the Fire Dept. it's hard to find time to finally dive into the project. So tuesday after about 8 hours of shingling the garage I'll get into it. What about doing some sort of floor in it? like plywood or something? Just a thought.

A floor would be nice but the boat appears a little shallow allready also at 35 hp I don't think you should be adding any unnecessary weight.
