Anyone catch Horsepower TV on Spike today? They showed LS Fest in Kentucky, lots of fun but what caught my eye was a motor swap competition where two crews of 4 guys take the motor out of their car(they had to drive it into the competition space) and replace it with a supplied LS6 crate motor.... the team that won had a 70 Olds Cutlass Convertible with a 350 in it....they swapped motors in 31:57 in order to complete the competition they had to drive it on a predetermined course to prove it was finished. Winner gets to keep the LS6!

The team that lost accidentally broke their LS6 block being stupid trying to bend aluminum and cracking the block....WHOOPS

Anyway I thought it was cool, I have never timed how fast I can swap a motor but I know we can do it in less then an hour on our Late Model race car but these are street legal cars and swapping a motor in 32 minutes is amazing!

I wonder if the car had only a couple bolts in it when it showed up for the swap?

Re: Hey Gear heads!

One team pulled the entire front cap. Pretty smart. One was an auto, the other standard. One had a smallblock, the other a big block... I would have liked to have seen it on even terms but in either case it was a pretty cool competition. I might could do it in 32 hours.:D

Those competitions are cool. I saw one that two crews would have to disassemble a drag race engine and then rebuild it. Put it back in the car and race it. They could do it in under 15 minuets.

Did they say what chop shop they worked for:D

Been working my own tail feathers off. Got some nice pics of my sons room which I recently finished putting down an Asian walnut floor. Brought the camera with me, and forgot to bring the cable to upload the pictures to the computer. I'll post them tomorrow night in the hardwood flooring thread in non-boating technical topics. I'll stop now before I jack this thread;). Catch ya later Buddy.
