Hey everyone, i just found this site, pretty cool, and glad to be a part of it. Now. My 35 hp mercury 1985 went out on me last month. At first it would stall out then conk out, at other times it would kinda hold back, rev up, the die out. I cleaned the carbs, rebuilt, yada yada, still it was jacked up and wouldn't do nothing. I notcied all of the sudden where the spark plugs hook to those lines werent getting any spark, so I figure my power pack or coils or bad, what do you think.

Now the real problem. I got a 4hp evinrude 1985 that looks and runs like pure joy. I mean 1 half pull and she goes. I'm goin out in a tournament tomorrow and i have a 13 foot fiberglass tri-hull boat. I was wondering to work the motor effectively and to keep in good shape how should i run the motor? is it ok to run full power, or should i just cruise at mid power? Also, it says 100:1 so what kind of mixute is that? that got me lost lol. Please help in any way you can. Thanks!

Re: Hey I need some help for my 4 hp Evinrude

Evinrude recinded the 100:1 ratio in about 1987.
They recommend 50:1 ratio in your motor.

Your boat is a bit heavy for the motor, so I would run about 3/4 throttle to go easy on the motor.

I have a similar motor 1980 4 hp. 50:1 is the correct mix. I don't see any reason for not running it full out. Most little motors always do.
