Hey LubeDude, tell me about monster tabs

Read discussions about monster (misspelled mobster, sorry) tabs on bass boats and my boat is in my signature. I think it is similar to yours. I have trouble with porpoising at 20mph and was wondering if these would help? got any pictures of your setup? Any other reccomendations?

What is the difference between Mobster Tabs and the standard tabs? The link does not give an explanation. <br /><br />I have a 20 footer with a 225-250 hp V8. I have puchased a set of standard tabs but not installed them yet.

Mobster Tabs have different plate designs to accomodate the shape of the hull (tyransom) on the Bass Boats. The traditional design can be used on many flat transom boats, but the tappered design is smaller in square inches than the ST1290 plate and tappered toward the traling edge to facilitate toip speed. If your boat is not a 60MPH+ boat then stay with the Smart Tabs. The plates are also a bit more rigid.

One last thing, with either Smart Tabs or Mobster Tabs, If you want more Top Speed. it is likely that you can increase the pitch on the prop. The tabs will improve the hole shot dramatically therefore you will be able to increase the pitch to increase the top end. This assumes that you are not over pitched to begin with.

Not sure, again my boat is in my signature below and the prop is 13.25 dia. x 23 pitch. Got a SS with 23 and another aluminum 19 pitch cupped. Considering the mobster tabs, like LubeDude. However I am looking for a cure to porpoising at less than WOT. around 3-4000 rpms 20mph
