I understand the mariner and mercury are in fact yamaha motors..
I also read on here that the 92' mariner mag is in fact a 48 hp motor..
it is a 4 cyl, 2 stroker with 2 carbs..
This motor is a 92 hull and was purchased late 91 or early 92 and a few yrs ago, I got it from the original owner..
Nothing ever had gone wrong with it..
last season the trim failed, I took it to a buddy to have him fix it.. time got away from us and we are finally addressing it. while there, He says
he thinks this thing can be goosed for more power.. its already propped at 12 instead of 13 to handle the load and turns I think either 48 or 5800// almost red as I recall.. have a few boats and I did not ever run this much.. got it for nephews who never took their safety classes and it has sat ..

I am seeing where some newer models are the same block up to 60 hp.. is this one also the same?
I also saw where some guys pull the reed stops on these and swap jets and remove exhaust restrictions to get more rpm?
thoughts and suggestions to upgrade the existing motor with similar parts from same product line?
Thanks in advance..
