Really depends on what you want to do. If you're going to modify one for performance then we generally stay away from any V4 looper with the big gearcase or change it later. As far as the powerheads go it really doesn't matter what year 120 or 140 you use. Even the 85-87 small bore powerheads can be bored out to the 88 & newer specs.
As for the 135 loopers, they started in 1999 (I believe) and are direct injected.
