Hi Urgent Nissan Motor repair

I'm located in London Ontario. I have a Nissan 25hp four stroke NSFA 2003 serial # 030776XC.
I noticed a hose connector broke off on the vacuum?? section of the top carb (see picture) and the motor has been slamming into gear. I'm in a bind to repair this and the closest Nissan dealer is a hundred miles away and a manual is a week away for delivery. The reason for the rush is I'm an escort inflatable for a swim across Lake Ontario this Friday for a charity.
The broken plastic part in the picture comes off the serrated brass ferrule on the block. The dealer is a having a replacement part sent to me direct courier and I'm not sure what to expect. I tried to budge the brass ferrule (which looks like it was moulded right into the black plastic)

Any help or a picture from manual will be helpful.

That's a crankcase equalization fitting. It presses into the block. That should not affect your shifting, but if your idle is too fast, that would.

Thank you for the replies. Yes Paul it does fit into the block and the only solution from the dealer was to buy a new carburetor at $240.00 and change plus labor. I brought it to my auto mechanic and we 'jury rigged' the tubing back onto the ferrule with windshield washer fitting. I tested it with the muffs for a good 1/2 hour at high and low revs with no issues. I'm not sure if this arrangement is kosher but it seems to be working.
I think the link broke when I was re-installing the cowling.
I thought having to replace an entire carb for a small plastic fitting though is a bit over the top but is that what you would recommend?

You can either do the correct thing, new carb, or the BS repair on the carb. Personally I wouldn't do the BS repair because of liability, but some people do and sometimes it does work.

Yes I agree. I also believe the designers at Tohatsu/Nissan could have created a more field serviceable design that doesn't require trashing a perfectly good carb for a 50 cent piece of plastic. Creating a legit 'repair' kit would have been a more customer friendly approach intended to keep me on the water and not in the repair shop.
